Who can apply?
All local private and public companies and organisations as well as their individual functional units that primarily operate within Hong Kong are welcome.
Benefits
The Wastewi$e Certificate recognises companies / organisations for their commitment to and efforts in environmental protection through waste reduction and/or recycling. Certificate holders can enjoy many benefits, such as –
Save cost
Waste reduction encourages efficient use of materials in daily operation of companies/organisations which help to save costs on purchase of materials.
Enhance productivity and competitiveness
Waste reduction helps to increase business competitiveness and enhance the corporate image by attracting customers who value the commitment of companies to improve the environment.
Obtain technical assistance with waste reduction and recycling practices
Our Technical Consultant will provide support to Wastewi$e Certificate participants on waste reduction and recycling practices for free.
Contribute to environmental protection
Waste reduction helps to improve the standard of living for all. By reducing the amount of waste, there will be less demand for additional landfill sites. Our valuable land resources can be better utilised to improve our living environment.
Awarded a prestigious Wastewi$e Certificate
The Certificate is synonymous with exceptional leadership in the environmental arena to promote the achievement of the Certificate holder in waste reduction.
Recognise and Publicise Achievement in Waste Reduction
Becoming a Wastewi$e Certificate holder means entering into a partnership with the Government to achieve common environmental objectives. The ECC may commend the efforts of certificate holders through publicity and marketing activities that will make their environmental achievements and contributions known to the public.
Participate in the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE)
Certificate holders can obtain bonus points in the HKAEE, another ECC's annual signature award programme led by the ECC, to recognise the overall environmental achievements of an organisation. Find out more details at the HKAEE website.

There are three levels of the Wastewi$e Certificate, namely basic, good and excellent, depending on the extent of achievement of the measures as illustrated below.
