Presentation Ceremony of 2018 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE) and Hong Kong Green Organisation Certification (HKGOC)

The Presentation Ceremony of 2018 HKAEE and HKGOC was held on 29 April 2019 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. At the Ceremony, a total of 214 winning organisations from different sectors were honoured with the 2018 HKAEE and Hong Kong Green Innovations Awards (HKGIA). 989 Organisations being certified as Hong Kong Green Organisations (HKGOs) in 2018 were also presented with certificates.

The Ceremony was graced by the Acting Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Honourable Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, GBM, GBS, JP, Secretary for the Environment, the Honourable Wong Kam-sing, GBS, JP, the Chairman of the Environment and Conservation Fund Committee, Mr Douglas Woo, JP, the Vice-chairman of the ECC, Mr Hui Yung-chung, BBS, JP, the Chairman of Awards Committee on the HKAEE, Ir Conrad Wong, BBS, JP, the Convenor of the Education Working Group under the ECC, Ms Sylvia Chan, and the Acting Permanent Secretary for the Environment/Director of Environmental Protection, Ms Irene Young, JP.

At the Ceremony, the list of winning organisations was announced. Under the 2018 HKAEE, 1 959 applications from 15 sectors were received. A total of 47 Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards and 161 Certificates of Merit were presented to the winning organisations at the ceremony. Meanwhile, among the 75 entries competing for 2018 HKGIA, one Gold Award, one Silver Award, two Bronze Awards and two Certificates of Merit were granted. Highlights of the green achievements of the Gold, Silver, Bronze Awards winning organisations were also shown on the LCD display kiosks at the ceremony venue. To commend company management and employees for their dedication in enhancing the environmental performance of their respective companies and the community, seven awardees were selected under the new Outstanding Green Achiever Commendation Scheme. Besides, to encourage event oragnisers to adopt environmental practices and reduce waste when organising outdoor events, 14 events were honoured as Green Outdoor Events at today's Ceremony (Special Video on Green Outdoor Event Commendation Scheme).
